The New Republic's John Kerry
The New Republic, famous for the journalism scandal that starred Stephen Glass, has another one on its hands. The anonymous "Baghdad Diarist" who made claims about alleged misdeeds of American soldiers in Iraq, has been exposed.
Jack Kelly has an analysis of the debacle. As this story unravels, what will become disturbingly clear is that Scott Thomas Beauchamp, an avowed liberal, joined the Army to undermine the efforts of the men with whom would serve and gain fame and fortune in doing so.
Who can blame him? Look what it's done for John Kerry.

Heartless, Racist Republican Speaks About AIDS
First Lady Laura Bush will speak at the National Press Club on Wednesday (I'll be there) about President Bush's plan to combat AIDS in Africa. The heartless, racist Republican administration of George W. Bush has pledged $15 billion (more than the rest of the world combined) to deal with the devastating disease on a continent full of black people.

Terrorists Stage 'Dry Runs' At US Airports
Democrats try to convince the public that the threat from al Qaeda doesn't exist and that the War on Terror is a "bumper sticker." However, in the past few years, terrorists have been testing America's homeland security, preparing to stage another wave of attacks. Notable incidents include the "ass bomber" discovered attempting to board a plane in Los Angeles with a "device" in his rectum and the "flying imams" suing an airline and the passengers that alerted authorities to their suspicious behavior.

More Old Media Scandals
From a "staunch Republican" that gives almost all of his campaign contributions to Democrats to an "anonymous" diarist in Iraq writing about non-existent atrocities committed by American troops, the Old Media continues to accelerate their decline with fraudulent stories. Jack Kelly reports on these incidents exposed by the New Media.

Florida Mayor Won't Cave To Gay Activists
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle apologized to parents and their children for not having acted sooner to stop gay men from having sex in the city's public restrooms. Gay activists were expecting to receive an apology from Naugle for chastizing them for the lewd behavior promoted on websites and in "gay guides."
Instead the mayor asked "responsible members of the homosexual community" to discourage the activity. Refreshing.

Another Old Media Hack Bites The Dust
Paula Zahn quit CNN one day after Campbell Brown joined the network. The liberal Zahn announced no future plans. Perhaps she can do whatever Aaron Brown and Judy Woodruff occupy themselves with nowadays.

CIA Responds to Critical Book
Of the many books written about the CIA in recent years, few received any notice from the Langley bureaucracy. One published in late 2005 by New York Times reporters James Risen and Eric Lichtblau that exposed the terrorist surveillance program that liberals claimed to be "warrantless wiretapping" got little reaction. Shortly before the 2004 election, the Agency actually fast-tracked approval of a book critical of the Bush administration, "Imperial Hubris: Why the West Is Losing the War on Terror" written by "Anonymous" (quickly revealed to be CIA analyst Michael Scheuer).
Only one book has prompted the CIA to respond. The agency issued a press release today about Rowan Scarborough's new book, "Sabotage: America's Enemies Within the CIA."
Judging from the title and the reaction of the Agency, it would seem that Scarborough has struck a nerve. BOOK PLUG: I deal with this same topic in my forthcoming book in a chapter about the Valerie Plame Affair. That episode is evidence of the politicization of the Agency and highlights its dysfunction in providing intelligence that might have thwarted the 9/11 attacks.
Monday night, I'll be attending Robert Novak's book event at the National Press Club where I'm sure the topic of Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame will come up.

Iraqi Insurgents Turn Against Al Qaeda Brutality
The troop surge has forced al Qaeda into more desperate acts of violence in order to keep sectarian strife stoked. However, the brutality of the terrorist group is causing Iraqi insurgent groups to turn against them.

Washington Post's Resident Clown
It you liked his bright orange hunting gear, you'll love his flannel jammies! Former Washington Post White House correspondent Dana Milbank donned sleepwear this week to cover the all-night Senate Iraq war debate. Journalism that will help you get the sleep you need.

Reid Wants 'Full Airing' Of Vitter Affair
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that he wants a "full airing" of the circumstances surrounding Sen. David Vitter's involvement with the so-called "D.C. Madam." The reliable liberals at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed an ethics complaint in the matter.
Let's hear it, Democrats. Do you really want to go down this road?
What say you Rep. _______________(D-__)?
Sen. _______________(D-__)?
Democratic Chief of Staff __________?

Judge Throws Out Valerie Plame Lawsuit
This is a bad month for the Old Media. The troop surge in Iraq is working, al Qaeda is getting rolled up left and right in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, the Senate failed to vote to surrender in Iraq and President Bush commuted Scooter Libby's prison sentence. Now a federal judge has thrown out the case against the Bush administration filed by Valerie Plame in The Big Nothing.

Kerry: No Post-Vietnam Bloodbath
Sen. John F. Kerry is either delusional or a liar, but more than likely a delusional liar. The cowardly swiftboat commander declared that "there was no bloodbath" in Vietnam after he along with Jane Fonda and the radical left arranged America's defeat. He futher stated that those sent to "re-education camps" are thriving in today's Vietnam.
Kerry's stunning ignorance knows no bounds.

Fraudulent 'Staunch Republican' Story Exposed
Jennifer Hunter, the Chicago-Sun Times reporter who wrote a story about a "staunch Republican" turning to the Democrats is feeling the heat now that it has been revealed that the subject of her piece is a fraud. Hunter claimed that Philadelphia lawyer James Ronca was fed up with Republicans and would support Democrats in the next election. Without much effort, bloggers discovered that in 2004, Ronca contributed almost exclusively to Democrats, including John Kerry.
When Hunter's deception was exposed, she wailed about the unfairness of the criticism. She wrote, "Ever been harassed by a group of irate Republicans?" Hunter fails to realize that Americans are sick of the partisan lies Democratic operatives in the Old Media try to pass off as objective reporting.
The "digruntled" Republican is a familiar Old Media tactic intended to sow seeds of discontent on the Right. If they can't find one, they create one. Rarely do they report when the migration is in the other directions. Most notably, the Old Media ingores the fact that Norma McCorvey, "Jane Roe" in the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case that legalized abortion is now an anti-abortion activist.
BOOK PLUG: I write about this subject in my forthcoming book, due out in September.

Why Americans Despise Congress
President Bush may be low in the polls, but Congress is lower. In fact, approval ratings for the House and Senate are at historic lows. Here is one reason why:

Senate Dems To Starve Troops Into Surrender
Unable to pass a bill forcing the United States to retreat from the battlefield in Iraq, Senate Democrats have announced a plan that would withhold funds from the Pentagon until Republicans agree to a timeline for surrender to al Qaeda. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, whose pajama party theatrics failed to convince members of the body to invoke cloture and proceed to a vote to withdraw from Iraq, pulled the Defense Authorization bill from the floor.
Bottom line: Democrats say to troops, "Surrender or starve!"
Rember this when Democrats say they support the troops.

Hustler Hypocrite Larry Flynt
Pornographer Conducts Political Smear Campaign
Pornography king Larry Flynt recently launched a crusade against Washington politicians who run for office on a ‘family values’ platform but fail to live up to the standards they espouse. The publisher of Hustler Magazine publicized reports that a telephone number registered to Louisiana Sen. David Vitter appears on a list released by alleged ‘D. C. Madam’ Deborah Jeane Palfrey. Flynt suggests that other high-ranking government officials are also implicated in extramarital hanky-panky.
Vitter issued a statement acknowledging involvement with an escort service some years ago and indicated that he had previously “asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife” during counseling. However, the Louisiana Republican’s admission and contrite remarks are insufficient according to Flynt. He said, “Unfortunately, we have too many of these guys in Congress, and I’m gonna do my part to get them out of there.”
So far, the targets Flynt’s of righteous indignation have been Republicans, two members of the Bush administration and one member of Congress. The pornographer denies a partisan vendetta against the members of the GOP, but allows, “Republicans are more fun, because they get caught so easy and live a repressed life.”
Flynt says he wants to expose the hypocrisy of politicians who advocate a virtuous lifestyle for others but conduct their own affairs by a different standard. He makes a good point - since Vitter’s rhetoric about the sanctity of marriage is a classic example of “do as I say, not as I do.” However, the elitist Washington culture is rife with hypocrisy on virtually every topic. Flynt’s own hypocrisy should not be overlooked simply because he points to someone else’s indefensible acts. Consider the absurdity of Larry Flynt lecturing about the moral failures of others.
Flynt is a purveyor of filth who would castigate otherwise honorable men seduced by the provocative images he is responsible for bringing into public view. The Devil works that way, too putting temptation in the path of men only to claim victory when they succumb to it. Flynt publicly reminded Vitter of his sins even though he confessed them long ago. The Devil does that, too. The name “Satan” comes from the Hebrew word meaning “the accuser.”
Strict adherence to a moral code is not an easy task in the modern world. Many who know the difference between right and wrong and even some who preach about it to others sometimes fall short. The sensational scandals of the recent past remind us that we are all one misstep from stumbling. My own experience is evidence of that.
The phrase “hate the sin, love the sinner” embodies a basic Christian tenet that reflects God’s affection for His children. God wants us to be saved from lives of sin and instructs us to repent for our transgressions and receive forgiveness. In contemporary discourse, Christians who speak about that which God considers sinful behavior are often characterized as “hateful” and “mean-spirited.”
Flynt and his ilk practice the antithesis of that principle and instead “love the sin, hate the sinner.” They seize on the moral failings of public figures for use as political weapons of mass destruction. These provocateurs do not want their victims to stop living a sinful life; they want them to stop talking about what constitutes a virtuous one.
Men like David Vitter can be shamed because they believe in a moral code. Conversely, those who have no moral compass cannot be ashamed of their behavior. Flynt said, “Democrats are liberal — they wear it on their sleeve. Their sex life is what it is. They don’t spend their whole life trying to cover it up.” Indeed, the smutmeister was one of President Bill Clinton’s most ardent defenders during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. He found no hypocrisy in Clinton signing the Defense of Marriage Act into law at the same time he was breaking his own sacred vows.
Flynt’s hypocrisy is holding public figures to high standards while at the same time having no standards of his own. He is critical of politicians who fall short of moral principles instead of those who have none at all. Flynt’s foray into this debate about morality and politics is crass partisan opportunism. He said it himself, “Payback’s a bitch.”

Mary Jo Had "That Sinking Feeling" 38 Years Ago
Lest the escapades of the original "waterboarder" be forgotten, I bring to your attention that 38 years have passed since Sen. Edward Kennedy drowned Mary Jo Kopechne in his Oldsmobile after leaving a party in 1969. Kennedy left the young woman to die in the waters of Chappaquiddick and waited ten hours before reporting the accident.

Cowardice Never Sleeps In Senate
It was sickening to watch, but I forced myself to monitor the overnight "debate" about the war in Iraq. Fortunately, I wasn't playing a drinking game that would require me to do a shot of Jack Daniels each time I heard a senator repeat the lie that al Qaeda was not in Iraq before coalition forces invaded in March 2003. I like Tennessee whiskey, but I would have been praying to the porcelain godess by 3am had I been playing the game.
Al Qaeda was everywhere in 2001 - including the United States. Yet Democrats and their enablers in the Old Media (especially the White House press corps) perpetuate the falsehood that the secular Saddam Hussein kept al Qaeda out of Iraq. He did not. In fact, the former Iraqi dictator provided safe harbor for al Qaeda and an area in which they trained. Saddam Hussein had a long history of cooperation with al Qaeda - just read what Clinton administration officials said in the late 1990s as reported by The New York Times and The Washington Post. BOOK PLUG: I cover this in my forthcoming book, due out in September.
The Senate all-nighter is a charade, political stunt and a waste of time, but at least it keeps some of those horndogs out of the Capitol Hill bars. Senators haven't done this much work together at night since Ted Kennedy and Chris Dodd were making "waitress sandwiches."
Our enemies are amused and emboldened by the cowardice on display in the halls of Congress. The "retreat and defeat" caucus failed to learn the lessons of Vietnam and will sacrifice our national security for political power. Voters should remind them in 2008.

One Liar Endorses Another
Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame fled Washington, DC several months ago to settle in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The pair claimed to be tired of the partisanship of the nation's capital and suggested a quiet retirement from public view. That did not last long, since the publicity-addicted Joe Wilson could not bear to be out of the spotlight. (As an aside, I'm told by an Albuquerque reporter that the locals don't care much for the Wilsons.)
The Old Media thinks it newsworthy that Valerie Plame's husband endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. I wonder if Clinton really wants the endorsment of a known liar. But then again, her own husband endorsed her, too.

Back From The Salt Mines
I'd like to report that I just returned from a long summer vacation at the shore or a wilderness backpacking adventure, but that is not the case. I want to thank of the loyal readers who inquired about my health as well as the team that searched Ft. Marcy Park. The milk carton was a bit much, though. I guess I deserved that for making people look at Hanoi Jane for all that time.
For the past three weeks, I've been working on the last bit of my book due to be released in September. The website will be redesigned in the very near future to facilitate the promotion and sale of the first of what I hope to be many books.
In the meantime, I will be writing more columns and updating this site more frequently. Thanks for your patience, now let's get to it!
