Congress To Get Terrorist Surveillance Details

Lara Jakes Jordan of the Associated Press is reporting that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will turn over "highly classified" documents relating to the Bush adminstration's terrorist surveillance program to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I'm starting a pool on how long it will take before the information is leaked to the press. Readers should submit their entries via the "Comments" email and inlcude:

1. Date
2. Media outlet

Bonus:

3. Reporter's name

Winner will receive an autographed copy of my forthcoming book.

Bush 41 Cites Old Media Hostility

Former President George H. W. Bush recently took the Old Media to task for its biased coverage of President George W. Bush: “...when the journalists’ rhetoric goes beyond skepticism and goes over the line into overt, unrelenting hostility and personal animosity.”

Journalists in attendance were not impressed.

Kerry & Fonda - Betraying America Again

John Kerry defamed his "brothers in arms" after the Vietnam War and secretly met with North Vietnamese Communist leaders while American POWs (including John McCain) were tortured in the Hanoi Hilton. Now he is in Davos, expressing his hatred for his country.

Jane Fonda, an unrepentant traitor who consorted with the enemy in Vietnam, has re-emerged to give aid and comfort to the terrorists and insurgents in Iraq.

Russett Pleads Ignorance To Wilson-Plame Link

NBC's Tim Russert, Washington Bureau Chief and host of "Meet The Press" and arguably the most knowledgeable newsman in the country, is claiming that he had no idea that Valerie Plame was Joe Wilson's wife and that she worked at the CIA.

Russert is either way overrated or he's not telling the truth.

Farewell, Deborah Orin-Eilbeck

The New York Post's Deborah Orin-Eilbeck, one of the best White House reporters of her generation died over the weekend following a long battle with cancer. I always seemed to be following the same track on a story as she was, more than once showing up to an event to find that she was the only other reporter there.

She'll be missed.

America, Iraq Kicking Insurgent A**

It looks like the gloves are finally off in Iraq. While Democrats and squishy Republicans have started to sound more like Jane Fonda as each day passes, President Bush and Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki are taking it to the forces trying to bring down the fledgling democracy. Three hundred insurgents were dispatched to hell over the weekend in a battle led by Iraqi troops. Bush's order to kill Iranian troublemakers is also a good sign that the United States is "in it to win it."

Mrs. Clinton, on the other hand is demanding that Bush remove all American troops from Iraq before he leaves office in January 2009. I guess the woman who would be Commander-in-Chief doesn't want to deal with a difficult situation when she moves into the Oval Office.

Anti-War Scum Desecrates Capitol Building

I know that "scum" is a harsh word, but if you saw these losers, you would know that it is an accurate description. Read this sickening account of their actions and the inexplicable response (or lack thereof) from the Capitol Police. Free speech now applies to vandalism? I'll remember that when I want to sing Christmas carols in front of the Capitol.

Harry Reid's Personal Culture of Corruption

The Old Media managed to tamp down Sen. Harry Reid's dubious dealings before the November midterms and downplay his connections to (that is, money he accepted from) disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff The Los Angeles Times is talking about Reid's "Deal in the Desert."

Say it ain't so, Harry.

Happy Anniversary To Me!

At a White House press conference two years ago today I asked President Bush:

“Senate Democratic leaders have painted a very bleak picture of the U.S. economy. Harry Reid was talking about soup lines, and Hillary Clinton was talking about the economy being on the verge of collapse. Yet, in the same breath, they say that Social Security is rock-solid and there's no crisis there. How are you going to work -- you said you're going to reach out to these people -- how are you going to work with people who seem to have divorced themselves from reality?”

At the time, unemployment had declined to 5.2 percent and the Dow was topping 10,400. Today, unemployment is even lower at 4.5% and the Dow is at all-time highs over 12,500. Federal tax revenues are surging and the deficit is continuing to shrink. Inflation is virtually non-existent. However, Democrats still paint a bleak picture of the economy - witness Sen. Jim Webb's rebuttal of the State of the Union address.

The train wreck of Social Security is accelerating toward its demise without any concern expressed by the new majority in Congress.

Democrat are still DIVORCED FROM REALITY®

Despite the efforts of the hateful Leftists, Democrats and the Old Media, I'm still here and calling them on their hypocrisy and lunacy.

I thank you, my loyal readers, for your support. I promise to keep up the fight!

Plame Arranged Wilson Trip To Niger

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

"Former CIA Iraq Mission Manager Robert L. Grenier appeared as a government witness in the trial of Libby on charges of obstruction and lying. He testified he told Libby that the idea of sending ex-ambassador Joseph Wilson to Niger was the brainchild of Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, who worked in the CIA office that sent him in 2002."

This is just as I reported IN 2003!

ABC Reporter Tattles On Drudge

ABC Radio News White House correspondent Ann Compton called the White House press office to report that Matt Drudge violated the embargo on the president's State of the Union speech Tuesday night. The whiny Compton and her liberal colleagues expose national security secrets (NSA surveillance, SWIFT terror fund tracking) and participate in political hit jobs (Mark Foley) without regret, but releasing a copy of Bush's speech is something worthy of reporting to the authorities. This speaks volumes about the Old Media mindset.

O-bambi Can't Take The Heat

Several weeks ago, Barack Hussein Obama, the man who would be president, took liberal New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd to task for making a comment about his ears. The Illinois Democrat says he's self-conscious about the auditory protuberances that probably enable him to hear into the future.

Now Obama is lashing out against Fox News for reporting on a magazine story that suggested the son of a Muslim father once attended a madrassa in Jakarta. Obambi shouldn't worry, CNN has his back.

Move over, Hillary, there's another prima donna in the race!

Jefferson Fought Muslims

A reader submitted a link to an article about Thomas Jefferson and how he dealt with Muslims while he was Commander in Chief. Democrat Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress stirred up the subject when he swore his oath on Jefferson's copy of the Quran.

America's schools no longer teach about the period in our history during which we took up arms against radical Islamists. It was the first military challenge the United States faced following its independence from England.

What Thomas Jefferson learned from the Muslim book of jihad

Harry and Nancy's State of the Union

Last Friday I sat through a presentation at the National Press Club by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that was billed as Democrats' "State of the Union." Harry Reid was as dour as ever, painting a picture of America that is dark and sad. Nancy Pelosi, on the other hand was sickly sweet - and delusional.

Pelosi's speech illuminated the San Francisco liberal's Far Left world view. She railed against Big Oil, promising new taxes, less tax incentives and more investigations of America's energy providers. The first female Speaker of the House went on and on about global warming - which she sees as a serious threat. What Ms. Pelosi must not consider a threat is terrorism, since she mentioned it exactly ZERO times.

These are the people now charged in part with the defense of America. They feel more threatened by a natural phenomenon that is neither caused nor can be changed by mankind than they are by an enemy that has sworn and acted to destroy us.

Be very afraid.

Clintonistas To Take Obama Down

Ever since voters dispatched John Kerry in 2004, Hillary Rodham Clinton has been the "anointed one" whose ascendancy to the White House is assumed. She's been coy and avoided controversy, trying to portray herself as a centrist who is strong on national security. Hillary has also lined up a lot of talented political operatives and has effective control of the Democratic Party. However, now that Illinois Sen. Barack Hussein Obama has officially entered the Democratic presidential sweepstakes and become the darling of an impatient Old Media, Hillary Clinton's position as the "front runner" is in peril.

It will be up to the Clinton’s dirty tricksters to take Obama down. Obama threatens not only Hillary’s future legacy of being the first female president of the United States, but also her husband’s legacy as “the first black president.” It’s the only thing Bill has left from his disastrous eight years in the White House. Look for Obama’s candidacy to be torpedoed by a Clintonista like James Carville or Sidney Blumenthal.

Reid Pushes Pork Protection Bill

Ethics reform - if it ever comes out of the Democratic Congress - is likely to be a watered down version of what Americans expect. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tried to kill language that came over from the House that would have provided transparency for "earmarks," dubious spending requests that are often the source of what many refer to as "pork."

Reid's version of the ethics and lobbying bill would only provide transparency for about 5% of government spending on pet projects. Could the reason for that be that the Nevada Democrat has FOUR sons and ONE son-in-law who are lobbyists? Reid makes his predecessor, Tom Daschle (whose wife, son and daughter-in-law were lobbyists) look like a piker.

What If The Surge Works?

There’s a lot of hand-wringing going on among Democrats and the Old Media about the “surge” of U. S. troops into Iraq to secure Baghdad. Their tone is decidedly negative and each prediction is dire. One possible outcome is not even considered: What if it works?

Democrats and the Old Media are loath to discuss a military victory because it is a concept foreign to them. In their worldview, America’s military is the cause of war and therefore the enemy of peace. For them, peace doesn’t come after a victory on the battlefield. Victory for Democrats and the Old Media is passing a United Nations resolution condemning Israel or global warming followed by a rousing chorus of “Kumbaya.”

Worse yet, victory in Iraq is a threat to the political power of Democrats and the Old Media. A win for the United States would be a vindication of George W. Bush and a repudiation of four years of Leftist rhetoric. America’s defeat in Iraq is as critically important to Democrats and the Old Media as it is to al Qaeda and the Islamofascists around the world.

This is why the question of whether the “surge” will be successful isn’t even being considered. A secure Baghdad would be devastating to the propaganda operations of Democrats, the Old Media and al Jazeera. Without the footage of bloody attacks filling the television screens, Americans might actually think we can win in Iraq and turn away from those who are so invested in our defeat.

Bush Calls For Victory; Dems Vow To Surrender

President Bush announced his plan to make a final push to secure Baghdad and achieve victory in Iraq. Democrats responded with prepared statements expressing their collective desire to cut and run from the battlefield and leave the future of Iraq to sectarian death squads and al Qaeda.

I sat through Sen. Ted Kennedy's speech at the National Press Club on Tuesday when he suggested that Congressional Democrats would cut funding for the war. Chris Matthews was at the next table and nodded in approval during the Massachusetts Democrat's remarks. The stench of cowardice that filled the room almost made it impossible for me to keep my lunch down.

Democrats are Democrats, they will always run from America's enemies and betray our men and women in uniform. Democrats will fight for the rights of terrorists (Guantanamo Bay) and glorify dictators (Fidel Castro). Nothing that has happened since Democrats took control of Congress should come as any surprise.

Will Sen. Johnson Fare Better Than Terri Schiavo?

If his fate were to be left in the hands of his Senate colleagues, South Dakota Democrat Tim Johnson might have reason to worry. In the fours weeks since suffering a debilitating brain hemmorage, Johnson has shown minimal improvement, still unable to talk and requiring a ventilator to help him breathe at night.

However, should Johnson fail to recover and remain in his current state, it might set the stage for an interesting and ironic debate. In April 2005, Senate Republicans pushed through emergency legislation to keep a feeding tube from being removed from brain-injury victim Terri Schiavo. Democrats bitterly complained about the federal government's intervention that temporarily prevented Michael Schiavo from starving his wife to death.

Now the Democrats' slim one-vote majority in the Senate rests on a private decision of Sen. Johnson's family. Knowing that South Dakota's governor, Mike Rounds is a Republican and would likely appoint a member of his own party to replace Johnson and thus give control of the Senate back to the GOP, what steps would Democrats take to keep Mrs. Johnson from pulling the plug if she were so inclined?

That Culture of Death is a tricky thing...

UPDATE: Save your hate mail, I am not suggesting anyone do to Sen. Johnson what was done to Terri Schiavo. I pray for his full recovery. Now go back to whining about how horrible Saddam's hanging was.

Andrea Says He's Not A Lib, But Chris Says He Is

Sour NBC newswoman Andrea Mitchell told Fox News host Bill O'Reilly that there was no bias at her network or at CBS or ABC and that Chris Matthews is not a liberal. Mitchell is delusional.

Even Chris admits that his is a liberal. On May 17, 2006 he was touting his book "American: Beyond Our Grandest Notions" at an event held at George Washington's Mt. Vernon. During the Q & A period that followed his presentation, he first asked if there were reporters in the room, and seeing none, uttered the words, "Yeah, I'm a liberal."

I was there - it was an epic moment. Now who's going to tell Andrea that Chris is out of the closet?

Democrats Revert To Form

The new Democrat leadership of Congress, that promised to be hard-working, bipartisan, inclusive and ethical has failed on each of those commitments within only a week of taking the reins of power.

THE FIVE DAY WORK WEEK

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said that a five-day work week would be instituted, because in theory more legislation was better than less. However, the House is closed today for the NCAA football championship game between Ohio State and University of Florida. Next week will be truncated as well, with the Martin Luther King holiday falling on Monday, January 15.

BIPARTISAN

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi staged an event that was billed as an "Open House for the People's House", but it specifically excluded members of the pro-life community who were denied access to the event by staffers and the Capitol Police.

INCLUSIVE

After bleating for 12 years that they had been excluded from the legislative process by the Republican majority and promising not to do the same in return, Democrats announced that GOP representatives would be shut out during the first 100 hours of lawmaking.

ETHICAL

William "Cold Cash" Jefferson of Louisiana continues to be a Democrat member of Congress as does Alan Mollohan of West Virginia despite serious ethical questions that have yet to be resolved.

Same old, same old.

Old Media Yawns At Political Prosecutions

The Old Media howled, cried "foul" and demonized Special Prosecutor Ken Starr when his Whitewater investigation uncovered obstruction of justice and perjury committed by President Bill Clinton. However, when Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong BOTH engaged in egregious prosecutorial misconduct that had political overtones, the Old Media simply yawned.

After Fitzgerald announced that Karl Rove wouldn't be indicted in the Valerie Plame affair, the case virtually disappeared from sight. Similarly, when the rape case against three Duke lacrosse players began to resemble the Tawana Brawley fraud, the Old Media seemed to just lose interest.

To its credit, Newsweek has a story about one of the victims in the case, Reade Seligmann, one of the accused lacrosse players. Still, the tone of the article is rather blase about Nifong's prosecutorial misconduct.

Old Media Mystified By Strong Economy

After years of parroting the dour Democrat talking points on the U. S. economy, the Old Media continues to express bewilderment each time a new report comes out. Today's offering from Reuters: Job growth surprisingly strong in December

Inflation, iterest rates and unemployment are at or near historic lows and the Dow at record highs, but Democrats and the Old Media still shriek about how bad the economy is.

And Now To Govern...

Gaining the majority in Congress might have turned out to be the easy part for Democrats - governing may prove to be the hard part. President George W. Bush said Wednesday that he intended to hold Democrats to their campaign promises. Flanked by his Cabinet in the Rose Garden, Bush called on Democrats to join him in balancing the budget, making his 2001 tax cuts permanent and making the "earmark" process trasparent.

Democrats have already balked at fulfilling their promise to include Republicans in the legislative process. For the first 100 hours of their reign, Democrats plan to push through major proposals without allowing Republicans to offer amendments or alternatives.

During the campaign, Democrats promised to implement ALL of the recommendations made by the 9/11 Commission. They have already decided against apdopting one of the most important ones: reforming Congress.

There has also been several missteps, Rep. John Murtha's failed bid to become Majority Leader and Rep. Jane Harman's snab as Intelligence Chair.

Then there is the restive radical base that put Democrats in the majority. Cindy Sheehan and her fellow travellers disrupted a Democratic event at the Capitol on Wednesday to demand the immediate withdrawal of United States troops from Iraq. Their chant: "De-escalate! Investigate! Troops home now!"

Interesting media note: While she was stalking President Bush at his Texas ranch and hugging Hugo Chavez, Sheehan was referred to as "antiwar activist", "Peace Mom" and "Mother Sheehan". AFP's headline calls her "political gadfly".
