Failed Counter-terrorism "Experts" Defend NYT

On Thursday, the House of Representatives delivered a stinging rebuke to the New York Times for publishing details of a terrorist funding tracking program. The vote was divided along party lines, with Democrats supporting their house organ's treasonous behavior. NYT Editor Bill Keller has been arrogantly defending his "right" to determine what illegally obtained classified information should be made public.

Since that effort has been unsuccessful, he has called on the equally arrogant Richard Clarke and the weasely Roger Cressey to downplay the impact of Keller's actions. Their article mentions Karl Rove in the final paragraph, a sure sign that the opinions of two officials who failed to prevent the attacks of 9/11 shouldn't be taken seriously.

Pelosi Hails Triumph For Terrorist Rights

House Minority Leader, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, who has designs on becoming the Speaker of the House if her party gains a majority in November is applauding the Supreme Court decision that gives rights to terrorists detained at Guantanamo Bay. Pelosi's craven hatred of President Bush is evident in hailing the al Qaeda-friendly ruling:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision reaffirms the American ideal that all are entitled to the basic guarantees of our justice system. This is a triumph for the rule of law.

“The rights ofdue process are among our most cherished liberties, and today’s decision is a rebuke of the Bush Administration’s detainee policies and a reminder of our responsibility to protect both the American people and our Constitutional rights. We cannot allow the values on which our country was founded to become a casualty in the war on terrorism.”

Democratic cowardice aside, the arrogance and tyranny of an unelected and unaccountable judiciary is a threat to America's security.

Warner's Lefty Blogger Becoming Ethical Quagmire

Deborah Orin writes about the Jerome Armstrong scandal in today's NY Post. At issue is the plea agreement Armstrong, an intimate associate of DailyKos megalomanic Markos Moulitsas-Zuniga, reached with the Securities and Exchange Commission for illegal stock touting on the internet. Armstrong is now a $5,000 per month consultant to Democratic presidential hopeful Gov. Mark Warner.

READ SEC COMPLAINT

Orin quotes Warner spokeswoman Ellen Qualls saying that Armstrong will remain with the campaign because: "This is a private matter between Jerome and the SEC relating to activities years ago."

Private matters years ago are NOT off limits to the blogosphere, despite what Warner, Armstrong and Moulitas have all declared. I would know that better than anyone.

Bad Day For Democrats

On Wednesday the Supreme Court upheld all of the Texas redistricting plan drawn up by former Rep. Tom DeLay. In a narrow 5-4 ruling, SCOTUS decided that one district would have to be redrawn because it violated the 1964 Voting Rights Act with regard to minority representation. The court said that Hispanics were negatively impacted in creation of the Congressional district now represented by Henry Bonilla.

What is nonsensical about the decision is that Henry Bonilla is Hispanic! Does this mean Hispanics can only be properly represented by Hispanics who are Democrats? Remember when then Democrat Rep. Bob Menendez, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus opposed the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the DC Circuit Court because he wasn't "Hispanic enough"?

Bonilla's 2002 opponent was Henry Cuellar, who is also Hispanic, so what's the beef?

Faith Group Defeats Anti-Christian DC Government

Faith and Action, a Christian ministry on Capitol Hill has won a battle with the Washington, DC government over a garden display of the Ten Commandments. After the group installed a granite marker engraved with the Holy Scripture, the city demanded its removal and treatened fines. Faith and Action leader Rev. Rob Schenck vowed that the display, positioned to be seen from the Justice's entrance of the Supreme Court would remain despite the legal jeopardy.

The government's capitulation is a rare win for free religious expression.

"Indict The New York Times?" A Question That Lingers

Several journalists and a slew of pundits are encouraging prosecution of the New York Times for its latest betrayal of national security in a time of war. At minimum, the newspaper should be forced to reveal the source of the leak. If jail was good enough for Judith Miller in order to get the goods on Scooter Libby in The Big Nothing (the Valerie Plame Affair for all of you first-time readers) it's good enough for Eric Lichtblau and Bill Keller.

The Republican House leadership is planning to introduce a bill condemning the Old Grey Lady for its treasonous behavior.

The Shot Heard Nowhere At All

Upstart anti-illegal immigration candidate John Jacob failed to topple five-term Republican Rep. Chris Cannon in Tuesday's primary election in Utah's 3rd Congressional District. Still, both sides are claiming victories, but only one of them will be going to Washington.

Does the fact that the neophyte Jacob came within 8 points of ending Cannon's political career send any kind of message to national party leaders? Is should, but it won't. A political scalp would have underscored the importance of this issue to the grassroots. Unfortunately, it may take some atrocity to drive the Republican majority to the correct position on border security.

A Real Bellwether For Midterms

Earlier this month, the hopeful Old Media and Democrats were breathlessly talking about the special election in California’s 50th Congressional district to replace Randy “Duke” Cunningham as being a bellwether for the November midterms. If Democrat Francine Busby won, it would be a sign that Republicans could very well lose control of the House. Republican Brian Bilbray won the contest and put a damper on “Speaker Pelosi’s” grab for the gavel.

The real bellwether race is happening today in Utah’s 3rd Congressional district. Incumbent Republican Chris Cannon is in a primary battle with neophyte John Jacob. It is a one-issue race focusing on illegal immigration. Jacob has defined Cannon as the pro-amnesty candidate which may or not be completely accurate, but Cannon is certainly is part of the Washington Establishment elite that favors a “comprehensive” approach to the problem. Jacobs says that he wants the borders to be secured before any decision is made about how to deal with the 12 million illegals that are already in the United States, a view shared by a strong majority of Americans.

A Jacob win will have every Republican candidate repeating the mantra of “border security first”. If Jacob pulls off the upset and the GOP gets on the right side of this issue, Republicans might actually pick up seats in the House and break even in the Senate.

Let’s watch it play out. I’ll do the post-mortem tomorrow.

What say you?

Murtha's Cowardly Comments Criticized

Ann Coulter correctly identified Rep. Jack Murtha as one of the Democrats' unassailable "human shields" in her new #1 New York Times Best-seller "Godless, The Church of Liberalism." The Pennsylvania lawmaker may have lost some of that protection with his remarks claiming the United States (George Bush) is a greater threat to world peace than Iran or North Korea. CNN Fears "Shamnesty", Democrats In Peril

CNN, which obviously supports the Senate immigration bill is worrying out loud that House leaders might prevent millions of illegals from being granted amnesty and provide grassroots Republicans with a reason to vote in November.

The headline says it all: House hearings threaten Senate immigration bill - Keeping debate alive could energize Republican base before elections

Most dangerous to the Democrats is a plan announced by House Speaker Dennis Hastert to hold hearings in Washington and ACROSS THE COUNTRY "so we understand what the American people are saying."

This is a sea change - the Beltway elites actually paying attention to voters' concerns BEFORE they get punished at the ballot box. It seems like the bricks sent to the U. S. Capitol and all of those empty envelopes returned to the Republican National Committee got noticed after all.

By November, politicians will be trying outdo each other to support aggressive border security and "amnesty" will be a four-letter word.

Murtha Was "Unindicted Co-Conspirator" In Abscam Scandal

The Washington Times provides some biographical information about Rep. John Murtha that the Old Media purposefully omits. When it writes about Murtha, the Old Media refers to him as a war hero who served in Vietnam, but never once mentions that he was named by the FBI as an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the 1980 Abscam corruption scandal. Nor does it report that last year the Pennsylvania Democrat steered $20 million in defense contracts to the companies represented by his brother Robert's lobbying firm.

Murtha is a cotemptuous coward who dishonors America's men and women in uniform with his reckless presumptions of the Marines' guilt in the Haditha incident and enemy-aiding pronouncements of defeat and retreat from Iraq.

For the first time in a long time, Murtha has a credible challenger for the seat in Congress occupied by his extra-wide rear-end. None of the Beltway political oracles believe Murtha to be vulnerable. They said the same thing about Tom Daschle and Tom Foley.

Most people won't hear about Diane Irey until her campaign gets some momentum and the Old Media embarks on a smear-campaign to take her out. I'd say by September 1 she'll have a target on her back.

Kudos To Coulter

In her latest book, ”Godless, the Church of Liberalism”, Ann Coulter takes aim at the Left with a flamethrower. She has set liberals afire with her attacks on the techniques liberals use in order to avoid meaningful political discourse.

She correctly exposes one of the tricks used by the Left to score political points: the victim as spokesman. Victimhood is an exalted status among liberals. With it goes a protective shield to say anything, no matter how outrageous, without fear of contradiction or criticism.

Cindy Sheehan is one example that Ann mentions. For two years, this lunatic has circumnavigated the globe spewing the most vile, anti-American nonsense, only to be venerated as “Mother Sheehan, the Peace Mom.” Maureen Dowd has awarded her “absolute moral authority” to say anything she likes because she lost a son in the Iraq war. The Old Media fawns over Sheehan, amplifying her anti-Bush rants and covering up her less lucid moments. When she told CBS radio correspondent Mark Knoller that foreign terrorists and insurgents in Iraq were “freedom fighters”, he chose not to report it.

Another liberal hero is Joe Wilson. The Old Media doesn’t let anyone question his pronouncements, even though he is a proven liar, because he claims his wife, CIA employee Valerie Plame was exposed by the Bush administration in retaliation for his criticism of the Iraq invasion. Plame wasn’t a covert agent at the time Robert Novak wrote his column, but that inconvenient truth doesn’t matter, since Wilson and Plame are victims. Don’t you find it odd that with all the information and documents that have leaked out of the CIA that there is not a single bit of evidence to indicate Plame’s undercover status?

What really has the liberals screaming is Coulter’s broadside against the “Jersey Girls”, a quartet of 9/11 widows who have become a political entity. They campaigned for John Kerry, trashed George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld, and defended Bill Clinton and Jamie Gorelick, but no one is permitted to say one negative word about them. The Old Media’s reaction to Coutler’s harsh rhetoric proves that point. She laid a trap for the predictable liberals and they jumped into it with both feet.

I write about Ann for two reasons, the most important of which is that she is right. She has the courage to say something that many of us have all been thinking and is willing to take the abuse from the Left. The fact that she makes a tidy profit from it makes it even more exquisite. The other reason is that I consider her a friend, especially after last year when she was of the few people willing to write about Gannongate for what is was, a personal political assassination, which is another liberal tactic.

More power to her.

Liberals Suppress Free Speech - Even Other Liberals!

I've often pointed out the hypocrisy of liberals when it comes to free speech. They believe it is only for those who agree with them. Conservative speech and religious expression has been liberals' usual targets, but at this week's meeting of liberals at the Take Back America event in Washington, DC, it was other liberals who were being silenced.

The group, Code Pink wanted to protest Sen. Hillary Clinton's keynote address because of her support for the Iraq war. Organizers negotiated with the leftists so they would not disrupt the event, promising to stage a press conference after Clinton's speech. When the Code Pinkos realized they had been deceived and thrown out of the hotel where the event was held, they went berserk. A few of the members made it into the auditorium and lustily booed the New York Democrat.

Don't feel sorry for Code Pink, though. They gave over $500,000 to the "other side" in the midst of the battle of Falluja. Code Pink protests against the Iraq war every Friday night outside Walter Reed hospital, where greviously wounded soldiers receive treatment. Watch this video of how the "peace group" conducts its "non-violent" protests. CODE PINK GONE WILD

* DCCC Chairman Rahm Emmanuel's endorsed candidate for CA-11, Steve Filson featured as part of the committee’s “Red to Blue” program lost the Democratic primary to Jerry McNerney by 23 points.

* Hollywood director Rob "Meathead" Reiner's ballot initiative that would have raised taxes to create a $2.4 billion universal preschool program in California went down to defeat by a resounding 60-to-40-percent margin.

* Alabama voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment that defined marriage as the "union of one man and one woman." Democrats say the U. S. Senate is wasting time debating a similar measure despite the enormous support for it across the country.

* Moonbat Marcy Winograd lost badly to Rep. Jane Harman in the CA-36 Democratic primary in by a margin of 37.5 percent to 62.5 percent. Winograd is an anti-war candidate who criticized Harman's support for the Iraq war and the NSA terrorist surveillance program.

WH Pressies Parrot DNC Gay Marriage Talking Points

On Sunday, Democrats worked the Sunday shows to criticize President Bush and Senate Republicans for taking up the federal Marriage Protection Act which would limit marriage to the "union of one man and one woman." The thrust of their talking points was not about the merits of the legislation, but that the United States was facing too many pressing problems to waste time on the issue of gay marriage. This speaks volumes about Democrats' position on traditional marriage - it's not worth their time.

That aside, I found it fascinating how the White House press corps repeated the DNC talking points phrased in the form of a question. My question: If there are so many issues that are more important than gay marriage, why isn't the press corps asking questions about something else?
