Another Defeat For The Old Media In Libby Case

There is more downside to the Old Media's attempt to bring down the Bush administration in the Valerie Plame affair. The Big Nothing is continuing to backfire on the partisan press as today a federal judge ruled that Time Magazine will be required to turn over Matt Cooper's notes to Scooter Libby's defense team.

The money quote that will haunt the Old Media operatives for some time to come: "The First Amendment does not protect a news reporter or that reporter's news organization from producing documents ... in a criminal case."

The Lunacy of the Antiwar Left

The coalition of the willing led by the United States, Great Britain and Australia is winning the war in Iraq and the broader war on terror, but the lunatic Left seems determined to help its enemies.

Cindy Sheehan is jetting around the world calling George Bush, Tony Blair and John Howard "enemy combatants" and "war criminals". Last year she was referring to foreigners coming to Iraq to wage jihad "freedom fighters."

George Galloway, a member of the British Parliment implicated in the U. N. Old for Food scandal, told a magazine that the murder of Blair would be justified.

Clinton's Enron Connections

Howard Fineman dutifully draws the parellels of the rise and fall of Ken Lay and Enron to the presidency of George W. Bush. He and the rest of the Old Media revisionists in Washington and New York would like everyone to forget the ties between the Clinton administration and Kenny Boy.

Hastert Takes On ABC's Fraudulent Story

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is threatening to sue ABC News for its story about the Republican leader's involvement in a corruption probe. Despite a Justice Department denial that Hastert was "in the mix" of the FBI investigation, ABC has refused to correct its story.

This is another instance of the partisan press being called to account for its fraudulent behavior. It's long overdue.

Criminalization of Political Speech

This is what happens when the First Amendment is voided by legislation like McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform. Political speech is criminalized by government officials pursuing a partisan agenda.

Bush Calls It "Removing The Filter"

The conservative leader of the Canadian government, Prime Minister Stephen Harper declared that he would bypass the liberal media that he said "has taken the view they are going to be the opposition to the government."

Sound familiar?

President Bush has employed a similar tactic since he taking office in 2001, calling the practice of circumventing the liberal agenda-driven members of the Washington press corps "removing the filter."

What Say You Now, "Speaker" Pelosi?

I've altered a favorite Lefty chant in honor of Democratic Rep. William Jefferson and Nancy Pelosi's own "Culture of Corruption." The Louisiana Congressman was caught on tape by the FBI accepting a bribe.

All together now: "This is what corruption looks like!" Repeat ad nauseum.

No Liberal Rage Over Leopold's Fabrications

Howard Kurtz writes a dispassionate account of Jason Leopold's total, complete and utter fabrication of the Rove indictment fantasy. The title of the article, "Rove Lawyer Has A Pet Peeve" doesn't begin to describe the Jason Blair/Stephen Glass/Janet Cooke/Walter Duranty aspect of Leopold's transgressions.

The journalism elites who salivated at reporting Leopold's fabrications have been remarkably silent despite the enormity of the fraud.

An Evening With Chris Matthews

I attended a lecture Wednesday night that featured MSNBC’s Chris Matthews blathering about some paperback book he had written. It was an interesting talk about some of the characteristics that made America great before he launched into anti-Bush, antiwar rant. In fairness, it was a relatively mild diatribe for the hyperactive Matthews and was nearly saliva-free. He made it a point of reiterating his belief that Saddam Hussein has no connection to al Qaeda even though there is ample evidence that there was some kind of relationship.

I was surprised to hear Matthews still praising Arizona Republican Senator John McCain as a maverick. Perhaps he hasn’t gotten the Old Media memo that would tell him that McCain’s maverick status is in the process of being revoked. He also paid lip service to American exceptionalism, but noted the because of Bush, the United States is hated in the world. However the facts really don’t back that up. Perhaps the elites that he talks to resent us, but the truth is many of the people they rule want to be in America and want to become Americans.

The most interesting tidbit of the evening came during the Q & A session when Matthews said that he recently had dinner with former Democratic Senator Tom Daschle. He confirmed that the husband of powerful lobbyist Linda Daschle was mulling a presidential run.

The least interesting part came when Matthews admitted to being a liberal. That has never been in question, since it is clear that Matthews is just another Democratic operative masquerading as an objective journalist.

Dashing Toward 2008

At first I thought this story about Tom Dashle running for president was a joke. Then I read it and realized that the diminutive Washington,DC resident/former South Dakota senator was serious! Does this mean his wife is no longer one of the most powerful lobbyists in Washington?

Internet "Journalists" Also Fabricate News

Jason Leopold got caught in an enormous fabrication last week when he wrote that White House advisor Karl Rove had been indicted. It is clear that the Hard Left and the Old Media want it to be true, even Hillary Clinton stood up and applauded the announcement, but wishing doesn't make it so. Nor does just making it up.

What's worse, Leopold claimed he had been set up as part of a White House "disinformation campaign." That's pathetic.

He'd have more credibility if he said he was following the examples set by The New York Times and CBS. They make stuff up too and call it news.

Washington Post Hails Leaker as Whistleblower

Old Media Distraught, Americans Not

Poor Chris Matthews. I thought he was going to cry this morning when discussing a Washington Post/ABC News poll that said 63% of Americans supported the NSA program of examining telephone records as a way of detecting terrorist communications.

The elitist Old Media is way out of touch with Americans, as demonstrated by this issue. It has tried to stir up a controversy about something that has been done since 1999 when Bill Clinton was president. This is another Old Media political operation against the Bush administration that has fallen flat on its face.

Howard Dean Dumps on Gay Base - UPDATE

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean appeared on the Christian Broadcast Network with host Pat Robertson and declared, “The Democratic Party platform from 2004 says that marriage is between a man and a woman. That's what it says.” It's a strong statement in support of traditional marriage, but unfortunately it isn't true.

While I am accustomed to Democrats trying to hide what they really stand for, the gay activist base isn't. It’s mighty upset with Dean. Hell hath no fury like gay radicals' scorn.

What will the outcome be, a Clintonian parsing of the issue in order to pander to the family values folks who are leaving the Democratic Party in droves, or a definitive statement in support of same-sex marriage to mollify a very vocal special interest group?

UPDATE: Dean capitulates to angry gays with a "clarification" but doesn't articulate support for same-sex marriage.

Washington Post "Advises" Dems, GOP

The Washington Post has two articles dealing with problems facing Democratic and Republican leaders as they head into the midterm elections. One article discusses the well-known disaffection of conservatives with Republican governance, a problem that can be fixed in the short-term. The other acticle only focuses on the internecine battles in the Democratic leadership and doesn't deal with the reasons for Democratic Party losses in three successive elections. That's where the real problem is.

The Worst Economy Since the Great Depression Booming

In October 2004, Democrats and the Old Media were bleating that the U. S. economy was "the worst since the Great Depression." Yesterday, CNBC reported:

The Dow was up 55.23 today, closing at 11,639.77. Today's close was the second highest ever for the Dow. The previous highest close was 11,582.43 on 1/13/2000. Today's close was also within 85 points of the all time Dow closing high, which was 11,722.98 on 1/14/2000. CNBC reports that the stock market got a late afternoon boost from the approval of tax cut extensions on Capitol Hill.

The Bush Boom in full bloom. What say you now Harry "Souplines" Reid?

Not So Fast, Nancy

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is measuring for new drapes in the House Speaker's office, but I think she is a bit premature. Karl Rove has already figured out how to get people to vote for Republicans in November: Tell them what would happen if Democrats were to take charge.

Tim Russert had Pelosi pinned down on "Meet the Press" last Sunday over the issue of impeaching President Bush. She denied it was part of the Democrats' agenda but John Conyers, who would become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee has already drawn up articles of impeachment.

Prepare yourself for the dance of Democrats trying to hide who they really are and what they stand for. Following that course, read Michael Graham's piece about the pathetic Patrick Kennedy.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who participated the takeover of the U. S. embassy in Tehran in 1979 and held Americans hostage for 444 days sent a letter to President George W. BREAKING: Kennedy Drinking in Bar Before Crash

Patrick Kennedy was drinking at the Hawk & Dove, a popular nightspot near the Capitol in the hours before he crashed his car into a security barrier at 2:45am according to an employee of the establishment.

However, the Rhode Island congressman denied being drunk. The Capitol Police did not give him a sobriety test despite the fact that he staggered and claimed to be on his way to a vote.

Mary Jo Kopeckne was unavailable for comment.

National Day of Prayer Celebrated in DC, Across US

President Bush declared today that "America is a nation of prayer." Thousands of prayer events across the country prove it. The National Day of Prayer was celebrated in Washington, DC at the White House and on the West Lawn of the U. S. Capitol.

The Capitol event took place following the U. S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon that began on Sunday and lasted for 90 consecutive hours during which the Bible was read aloud cover to cover. A prayer station was located nearby for individual and group prayers for the nation.

Let's see, freedom of speech, assembly and religion all wrapped up into one event on public property. Enough to drive the liberal Christian-bashers to distraction.

Liberal SCOTUS Judge Fears Accountability

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the former ACLU counsel appointed to the Supreme Court by Bill Clinton is mouthing talking points from liberal activists Ralph Neas and Nan Aron. She complained to the American Bar Association that lawyers should challenge a proposal from Republicans in Congress for oversight of the judicial branch.

She is "concerned" that Congress may insist on some accountability from judges or that the legislative branch might limit the scope of the courts.

Unfortunately for Ginsburg, its is within the constitutional authority of the Congress to do so. Then again, Ginsburg has proved time and again that she doesn't know anything about the U. S. Constitution.

Stops Time Warner's Price Gouging!

The Time Warner media conglomerate posted a 60% increase in earnings in the first quarter of 2006, recording a $1.43 BILLION profit.

Cable prices are going through the roof and yet Congress does nothing. Women and children are particularly hard hit by soaring newstand prices. Put Time Warner CEO Dick Parsons in front of a Congressional investigation panel with the company's financial records to explain. He should also be required to reveal the details of his excessive compensation package.

Perhaps Democrats will sponsor a "windfall profits tax" for Time Warner. Republicans may offer rebates to low-income subscribers.

Dems Ready to Smear Black Republicans?

Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell won the GOP nomination for governor in Tuesday's primary. He is the second African-American gubenatorial candidate running this year as a Republican, the other being former Pittsburgh Steeler legend Lynn Swann in Pennsylvania.

If Democrats behave true to form, both of these men will be smeared for not being on the liberal plantation. They've already begun to attack Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, the Republican nominee for Senate in Maryland. Two former staffers on Chuck Schumer's Democratic National Senatorial Committee are facing charges for illegally accessing Steele's credit report.
A Democratic strategist warned the party not to wait to "knock Steele down" because he is drawing strong support from the African-American community.
