Moonbats Leading Democrats to Demise

Senate Votes to Close Off Debate on Alito 72-25

Judge Samuel Alito will be voted onto the Supreme Court on Tuesday at 11:00AM. He'll be sworn in later that day and take his place alongside the 8 other justices at the State of the Union address.

Democrats failed to follow Kerry and Kennedy. Spineless is as spineless does.

PREPARE TO BE ASSIMILATED!

Bring On the Filibuster!

Senate Democrats are inching ever closer to following Sens. John Kerry and Ted Kennedy over a political cliff. The opportunistic Hillary Clinton has joined the effort along with a few others who have been swayed by the loud radical base of the party. They’ve decided that even though Alito has enough votes to be confirmed on the floor of the Senate, a little bit of pandering to their liberal special interest groups won’t hurt.

I say: “Bring it on!”

While it is thought that a vote against cloture can’t succeed, Hamas didn’t think it would win the Palestinian election, either. I’m rooting for a delay on Alito’s confirmation – and I don’t want Majority Leader Bill Frist to trigger the “constitutional option” – yet.

Picture this: Samuel Alito and his wife sitting in the gallery at Tuesday’s State of the Union Address. President Bush points to them and tells America that Democrats refused to allow an up-or-down vote when it is clear Alito has more than enough votes to become a Supreme Court Justice. Considering everything we’ve seen so far, who would win the PR battle on this one? Don’t forget – whenever Americans see Mrs. Alito they remember that mean ol’ Democrats made her cry.

The President can effectively undercut the Democrats’ rhetoric about “minority rights” when it comes to the use of the filibuster. The majority has rights, too. Americans understand that elections have consequences and that fairness demands that Alito deserves a vote. How many elections do Democrats have to lose before they comprehend something as simple as that?

After a spectacle such as that, invoking the “constitutional option” wouldn’t even be necessary. However, the damage Democrats would do to themselves would have a profound effect on the 2006 elections.

Again, I say: “Bring it on!”

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY...

I asked the now-famous question:

“Senate Democratic leaders have painted a very bleak picture of the U.S. economy. Harry Reid was talking about soup lines, and Hillary Clinton was talking about the economy being on the verge of collapse. Yet, in the same breath, they say that Social Security is rock-solid and there's no crisis there. How are you going to work -- you said you're going to reach out to these people -- how are you going to work with people who seem to have divorced themselves from reality?”

It's been quite a year. I have no regrets - the Democrats are as "divorced from reality®" and oppositional than ever.

THIS JUST IN: DEMS MULL FILIBUSTER

I had a peculiar call just a few minutes ago telling me that Democratic Senate leadership is considering making a stand against the Alito nomination. Buoyed by an editorial in today's New York Times, the go-for-broke strategy is to force the Republicans to use what they would say is the "nuclear" option. That would trigger a torrent of negative press about Republicans' abuse of power.

They think that by linking the lobbying scandal and the NSA surveillance program together with the rules change, they think enough Republicans will cut and run from Alito.

Interesting theory - the most original thinking from that side of the aisle in a long time - albeit wrong.

STAY TUNED...

SCOTUS: It's Still Over

Until the votes are cast and counted on the Senate floor, Democrats will pretend there is still a chance that Samuel Alito will not become a Supreme Court justice. Barbara Boxer, however still complain that the tally board is rigged.

Democrats only have themselves to thank for the current state of affairs. The Wall Street Journal shows how the seeds of the Roberts-Alito court were sown long ago. It's actually what they believe is their "finest moment" that has been their undoing.

I'm still hoping for a filibuster. The New York Times agrees with me - but not for the same reason.

Moonbat Slaughter Targets Matthews For Blogswarm

Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) is calling on the liberal blogosphere to attack MSNBC's Chris Matthews for his comparison of Osama bin Laden's recent statements to the rhetoric of Bush administration critics. Since that group includes the Unfit One from Western New York State, she is exhorting her minions to take Matthews down.

I'm getting the popcorn for this one.

Journos To Get Best Seat At Libby Trial

The media is getting just what it wanted: a Bush administration official on trial in the Valerie Plame affair. But as the old axiom warns: "Be careful what you wish for."

As I have been saying for some time now, journalists will be called to testify - and without ANY protection - about what they knew about Valerie Plame and when they knew it. Plame was NOT covert, no matter what the CIA says. More than a dozen journalists in Washington knew she worked at the agency long before Robert Novak published his column. Each of them will have the opportunity to confirm that UNDER OATH in the very near future.

Bob Woodward didn't come forward out of conscience. He was tipped off that he would be on the witness list. Other journalists who didn't come forward have yet to face what will surely demonstrate that the entire mess is a liberal media generated phony scandal.

If you recall, I was the first reporter to confront Joe Wilson about the memo that proved he was less than honest about how he came to be chosen for the mission to Niger.

I'm ready to testify - in fact - I'm looking forward to it.

Would Someone Tell Senate Democrats That It's Over?

Democrats are dragging out the Alito confirmation hearings when it is clear that the nominee has the votes for promotion to the Supreme Court. While it is understood that Democrats need to pander to the special interest groups who give them campaign contributions, are they really well-served by even more face time demonstrating why they are not in the majority?

I'm all for it - in fact - I'm hoping for a filibuster. That would be enough to help Republicans INCREASE majorities in both houses of Congress.

Unmitigated Gall Of the Left

The father of John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban, is pleading for clemency for his son. In his request to President Bush, he explains that John was only following a spiritual journey and did not intend to take up arms with the Islamofacists. He also claims that his son thought he was being rescued by American soldiers - only to be tortured by them!

What gall! His idiot child WAS rescued by American soldiers. He should have died on the battlefield, but because U. S. forces don't execute prisoners of war - his life was spared.

I remind you that during this same series of events, a patriot died. Johnny Michael "Mike" Spann, a CIA officer who ensured that Lindh was identified and sent back to the United States was killed in the riot at the prison in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Let Lindh rot. Actions have consequences. No clemency for this traitor.

Matthews' Bin Laden - Michael Moore Comparison Outrages Liberals

Liberals are in an uproar over Chris Matthews' comparison of the latest tape from Osama bin Laden to comments from propagandist filmmaker Michael Moore. Their demands are for an apology!

This comes from the same "blame America", "Bush = Hitler" crowd that
won't speak out against Harry Bellafonte or Cindy Sheehan - both of whom have called President Bush the "world's biggest terrorist."

I disagree with Matthews to some extent. I thought OLB's message sounded more like the rhetoric that comes out of the mouths of Howard Dean, John Conyers, Louise Slaughter and the rest of the moonbats of the Hard Left.

Sharing talking points with Osama bin Laden; is that Democrats' election strategy in 2006? BRING THAT ON!

Rice Putting Diplomats To Work

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is shaking up her department in an "immediate redeployment" of diplomats to sports where their skills might actually do some good. The net effect of the policy will be to separate the careerists from their socialist comrades in Europe and put them in some rather unpleasant locations. Until now, only US dollars made it to some of these places without supervision.

It's about time. Look for a Washington Post article from Walter Pincus about how many long-time employees are deciding to leave the State Department. This will be a good thing - they can all join Ann Wright and Cindy Sheehan in the ditch in Crawford, Texas.

Classic NYT Spin On Barrett Report

For the last remaining moron who believes there is no liberal bias at the New York Times, I offer the Old Grey Lady's spin on the Barrett Report. It downplays and casts doubt on the elements of the report that would be devastating to the Clintons - if the public was allowed to see it. The last two sentences of the article contain an outright lie:

"Initially, the panel of three judges that oversees the lingering issues involving the independent counsel law agreed in October to the public release of Mr. Barrett's report but said the section with accusations about Clinton officials must be deleted.

But after Congressional Republicans attached a rider to a Department of Housing and Urban Development spending bill requiring publication of the full report, the judicial panel in November ordered a full disclosure."

One can only believe this if they think 120 pages of blacked out information can be called "full disclosure."

Robert Novak has the skinny on what's really going on.

Let's see if the Old Media demands the release of the unredacted version of this taxpayer-funded report. If it contained anything damaging to the Bush administration, it would have been leaked to the press a long time ago.

I'm waiting...

Daschle Mulls Run For White House

Tom Daschle, the biggest individual loser in the 2004 election is making noises that he might throw his hat in the ring for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. In an interview with his media cheerleader, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, the former Senate Minority Leader and D. C. resident said "I have received a lot of encouragement."

From who - his wife, son and daughter-in-law - lobbyists all?

Daschle is just the right person that Democrats should to turn to for leadership!

Desperate Dems Tap Cronkite For Antiwar Aid

The former CBS News anchor that is said to have convinced President Lyndon Johnson and the American people that the war in Vietnam was unwinnable has made the same pronouncement about the war in Iraq. He is urging news anchors to become more activist in opposition to the war.

Ed Meese Eats Chris Matthews Lunch For Him RE: Plame, NSA

Thursday night was one of the few times I wish Chris Matthews had a larger audience than the dozen or so who watch him while donning their tinfoil hats before Keith Olbermann comes on. After a segment with Russell Tice, the liberals' new "truth teller" and former NSA employee who has confessed to leaking national secuirty secrets to The New York Times, the pear-shaped host took on former Attorney General Edwin Meese.

It was great TV viewing, with Matthew's spittle flying and all, but you'll have to be satified with the transcript. Download file.

At least he didn't have to suffer the indignity of doing a show on Air America.

Dems ready to roll over on Alito nomination

feck·less: adj. Lacking purpose or vitality; feeble or ineffective.

Samuel Alito is headed to the Supreme Court after Senate Democrats failed to offer any compelling reason he should not be confirmed. They did make his wife cry, though.

Senior Democratic aides say that a filibuster is "unlikely". Too bad, I was really looking forward to that.

Liberal Media Elite Bemoans 2005

Marie Cocco of the Washington Post Writers Group recently proclaimed 2005 to be an “annus horribilis” for the American press. While I disagree that last year was worse than 2004 in terms of the media, with Eason Jordan and Rathergate and its reprehensible conduct during the election, it was unquestionably one more in a string of down years in the precipitous decline of the Old Media.

Cocco claims that the “spectacular” journalism scandals of the past, like the multitude of Jayson Blair’s lies pale in comparison to the timidity of the press and the Bush administration’s efforts to intimidate and undermine it. The incidents she cites and those she omits reveal how the Old Media sees itself and but remains blind to its inherent liberal bias.

The writer demonstrates how far to left she is when she whines about the “corporate slashing of newsroom budgets.” A theme that is beginning to emerge from the Hard Left is criticism of a “corporate media” that places profit above truth. It is unhappy that the Old Media isn’t activist enough to advance their liberal political agenda. But in the face of plummeting audiences, even the partisan media had to mitigate its overtly biased reporting.

Of course Cocco takes a gratuitous and now obligatory swipe at me for asking questions at White House press briefings that a majority of voters in the 2004 election wanted to have answered. I was particularly struck by her description of “partisan hucksters” who “masquerade as journalists”. That would apply to a majority of reporters in the Washington press corps.

She shrieks about payments to journalists to promote government programs and pre-packaged “video news releases” as evidence that the President is using taxpayer funds to disseminate propaganda but fails to note that these were also standard practices of the Clinton administration.

Cocco is especially critical of the news stories “planted” in Iraqi papers. I’m not sure her complaint is about the policy or the fact that the articles contradict the Old Media and al Jazeera’s fraudulent reporting on the war in Iraq.

She also laments the cozy relationship between Washington reporters and the people they cover, using the Valerie Plame affair as the example. Was she in a coma during the 1990s? Is it impossible to be a Beltway journalist and not be aware of the incestuous relationship between the media and with the Democratic Party? Washington Post reporter Walter Pincus and his wife Ann (a Clinton appointee) were guests of the Bill and Hillary at Camp David and none of the journalism elites found anything unseemly about that.

Cocco harps about the failings of the New York Times, but fails to criticize the rag that promotes her drivel. 2005 wasn’t a very good year for the Washington Post.

Bob Woodward held important information about his sources in the Plame affair from his editors, just as Judy Miller did. Other reporters have sat on information that undercuts the case against members of the Bush administration in the matter, but haven’t yet stepped forward. Expect this to be revealed when Scooter Libby’s trail begins.

Last January, the Washington Post’s Jonathan Weisman published a story so fraudulent that the White House demanded a retraction and got it. Its affiliate publication, Newsweek ran a phony story about a Koran being flushed down a toilet at the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay that resulted in the deaths of over a dozen people.

The paper’s other reporters ran afoul of any number of legal and ethical standards in 2005. President Bush recently chastised White House correspondent Peter Baker at a press conference for the biased premise of his question about NSA surveillance programs. Dana Priest is being investigated for the story she wrote about alleged “black sites” operated in foreign countries by the CIA, information that is highly classified. Matthew Mosk appears to have had an operational role in the set up of an aide to Republican governor Bob Ehrlich and perhaps violated the law in the process. The Washington Post continues to stonewall on the matter.

The newspaper’s ombudsman suggested that the column of a liberal writer who does a daily roundup of what other liberal journalists are saying about the White House be clearly distinguished as opinion since readers were confusing it with the nonsense it puts on the front page as objective reporting.

If Cocco thinks that 2005 was a bad year for the media, she isn’t going to like 2006. Reporters will be spending a lot more time in court explaining what they knew about Valerie Plame and when they knew it as well as being required to name the sources of classified information about key programs in the war on terror. Several may be in jeopardy of prosecution for revealing these secrets – and deservedly so. Minimally, their sources that likely include CIA officials, federal judges and Congressional Democrats will probably be exposed.

I think 2006 is going to be a great year!

Media double standard

According to the Old Media, nothing trumps the public's right to know, regardless of the consequences. The exception to this rule is when one of its own is in danger. The hypocrisy is stunning when you realize these are the same people who have been undermining the War on Terror by revealing any number of national security secrets on the front pages of their publications.
